The wobble I had in the drivers side, which I thought went away, is still there. My buddy was driving behind the other day and told me it was getting a little bad. I don`t want to replace the shaft, because it has the clutch style posi in it, and I want an open rear end.

Looking for a 14bsf (preferrably 6 lug, but will grab 8 lug if cheap), or 12b. Let me know what ya got, and if your willing to deliver for a fee, or meet.

Cheaper the better.

Swapping the shaft is easy. Why would you want an open rear diff?

Unless you're wanting to install a lunch box locker it doesn't matter if the diff is open or not as the whole carrier will get changed. Lunch box lockers got their name from well..........i think you get the idea.

Well, yeah, I just planned on adding a lunch box locker, ie Lockright

It will cost more to do it right the first time but doing it twice will definately cost you more. Just buy a really locker and be done.

Would you still consider it, if the axle in question was a 30 spline 10b?

A detroit is a replacement locker, correct? Are there any other ones that replace the carrier?

Yes i would definately install a detroit. There are many other options for a full carrier "posi" replacement.

If you are asking because the 10 bolt is weak and you might step up to a 14bolt later if you break this one then just keep the limited slip you have, change the shaft, and when you are ready to step up to a strong axle then spend the money on the locker.:D

If I step up to a 14b, it will only be a SF, as I`m sticking with the 33s.

The 14b sf is actually pretty strong, the shaft itself is stronger than the 14bff shaft, but it has o work dual purpose: Torsionnal and support.
The ff shaft only hhas to work torsionnal.
Anyway if you are not going bigger than 33, I think you should be fine with a 30 spline 10 bolt, and maybe it's worth doing a real locker now and be done with it.
Up to 35" tires I am sticking with my 1/2 ton axles, have been for 6 years
And I have a heavy and torquey engine.:D
