I am looking at getting a soft top for my 1990 K5 and was wondering what you guys have going. I would like one that can still make the second row seats functional as suppose to the top that makes the Blazer look like a pickup.

How easily can this be installed? Can it be done in 20 minutes or does this take all day? I am going to the Detroit Dream Cruise from Chicago and I want to get a soft top just incase it rains and to put it back on when I park it for the night.

What do you guys have?

I have a fast back style that I got done at a marine boat shop they just rivitted buttons all along the truck and the leather soft top snapped into place, the rear seats are kinda useable if your short? too about a day for the shop too cut out the pattern to fit like a fast back and too set up the buttons, I paid I think 300.00 Ill try to pop the top off and take a picture of the soft top on.
here is a pic of the buttons all along the bed and cab to give you an idea of what i got

Id love to see pictures of it too, I dont plan on having people in the back seats too often, but I want a top I can take on and off when I am out and want to have the top off.

Thanks

i love it, you could squish someone back their if they are the type that doesn't complain! but i chose this model cause of how slick it looked and for the most part its only purpose is for flash rains that come up unexpected.

More picture from any angles you have please, want to take something with me to a shop when I have money to show them what I want, it looks awasome, thanks alot.

Can-Back is still making them but they're special order and wicked expensive, like $1300... and Besttop supposedly will do a batch order, maybe w/ORD, as per our conversation at EJS. Steven and I were talking about it and how lame it was, and then I went and yelled at the Besttop rep, pointing out the gay SCOUT!!! tops they still offered. WTF!?!?! :D

And they're like $800 or something, too. :(

Next spring I am making my own. I have an STC and it's alright but has some issues I'd like addressed. :D

1300!!! 800!!! wow thats nuts i only paid 300 for mine i just went to the local marine shop and told him i wanted a fast back style soft top that snaps on with heavy duty buttons. id make sure to check out a few other places first!

Yes, but those have windows and frames to support the shape.

As far as I know Can-Back has not started making K5 tops again. It is on there list but none produced by the new ownership. Too bad because I think they were the simplest, and best, design.

Weird... I called them 2 weeks ago and they said "special order". Hmm.

I WANT one of those fast back tops, a Marine shop huh? Wonder if there is anyone compedent enough around here to be able to do something like that..

You're on Staten Island? I'd guess you could find someone within 50mi... Might have to go to Suffolk, but c'mon. There's boats all over out there!! :D

Yea I know we have boats everywhere, just havent had the greatest experience in any local marine shops, my uncle is a big boat guy, going to talk to him tomorrow and have him ask around for something like this at the Marina.

just show em the pics the pattern isnt that hard to figure out then ya just gotta line up the snaps and your made in the shade!

You've sealed the deal, that is what I'm going to put on my K5 :D I'm going to get rid of the hard top though and put a truck gate on then.

i wounder if i made angle brackets that bolt to the bed rail if the could put the snaps in that. cause i dont wanna drill holes for snaps.

I was hoping to do something like that as well. i figure it can bolt into the existing holes and the top can snap to that, or even just fold under a piece of bar and bolt it down.
