Howdy y’all, I’m new here and I have a 1990 Blazer with a 350 that is knocking pretty severely and I don’t want to bother rebuilding it. I live in California, in a smog controlled area, and I cannot register this truck out of state or in a non smog county. With that being said I need to get a stock rebuilt/remanned 350. I’m in a small town beach town outside San Francisco. Any input would be much appreciated, thanks.

I got mine from Summit Racing, ordered a GM part number long block 350 and swapped it in. Pretty easy and took all the guesswork of a rebuild at a local machine shop which is harder and harder to find these days.

Welcome to CK5 @Domhuft

just to be sure this is a rod knock in the bottom end ? Sometimes the transmission flex plate can crack or get loose and make all kinds of noise.

A new crate engine or remanufactured can be found online or ordered through the gm dealer, Napa, and many other auto parts stores.
A few CK5 users have purchased crate engines. I encourage you look at reviews for the various builders and their customer service.

Yes, it is definitely coming from the bottom end. I replaced the flex plate because I thought that was the problem and I replaced the severely cracked exhaust manifolds, it’s now extremely obvious it could be nothing else.

Would it be possible for you drop a link to the engine you are running here?

I haven't run that engine, but it is new not rebuilt and genuine GM one piece rear main seal and roller cam with lifters. You might need a different flex plate if your current engine is 2 piece rear main. iirc it will have a 3 year warranty. Might need to be installed by a professional shop for that.

My current 350 was rebuilt by me in 1993

A 1990 350 will be a one-piece rear main seal ( all 86+ SBC’s were one-piece ) so that flex plate should be correct for your application.

Welcome aboard!

Welcome to a fellow Pacifican. :waytogo:
I use to live just off Crespi with family. Still go back and visit every now and then.
