i need computer help

i am chaning my 88 4x4 auto blazer to a stick, i think i have everything i need, almost. I was told i will need to reprogram the computer could anybody give me any more information on this. i saw allot of info on here regarding the details of programing but im not sure what i actually need and whould have to do. do i just need to change to fuel map, do i need to replace anything? i saw so many different options i dont really know what i need. Any info or suggestions you guys have will be great, thanks in advance for any help.

All you need is a chip for a manual trans. Should be able to find one at a junkyard.

im going to call a salvage yard nearby but i need to know what to ask them for? its the ecm i need right? or is it the prom or are they both the same?

You need the PROM, but I doubt a yard will sell just that.

Alternatively, you can PROBABLY find someone online that will burn a stock PROM for you for not that much. No idea what the yard charges, but having a spare ECM can't hurt if they aren't that expensive.
