BUM BUM BUM POP BUM BUM BUM POP POP BUM BUM BUM BU _POP.what the hell is it???????? and the choke needs to stay shut to run. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif please help saturday i want to get her running so i can start driving the stupid thing. Just a total guess here but one of the things I noticed on my Holley I rebuilt over the weekend. Could the the secondaries be opened slightly? Mine had an adjustment screw that wasn't allowing the secondaries to close completely. Just a guess as I said.

BTW any info on the shipping for those carbs?

i'll see how much to ship monday, i'm sorry i took so long , i tried to get the guy's from texas to find some one to get them to you for free. i didn;t work. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gifto /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif

i'll check again but it ran pretty smooth berore i changed the carbs(pointlessly). other than it needed the choke halfway shut. now it needs to be all the way shut and sometimes it seems thats not enough. thats why i think it's an air leak. does the quadro junk gasket have a fit problem with a carter AFB carb? it seems to fit ,maybe thats it. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gifto /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif

No problem at all, thanks for trying. I did have an idea about your carb issue. could the carb mounting on the intake not be not flush? Like maybe when the carb is on it is not sealing to the intake. Only thing I can think of that would not change between carbs.

im not sure what the carter AFB looks like, never used one or seen one, so /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

i think as long as both are a spread bore it shouldn't be a problem, did you try a new gasket? its hard to jugde what it is with out actually hearing it, i need to come over there and help you /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

you got PM /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif

thats what i'm thinking. we'll see tommorow?that's my quest. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gifto /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif

the carbs are pretty much the same size and bore,i was just wondering maybe the casting is different TJ /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif(steve needs a hammer graemlen or a mushroom cloud). /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gifto /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif

One carb is squarebore , one is spreadbore . You need one of each thin gasket , and the little thin adapter plate to make sure it fits right /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

thanks bro, i had it running alright today,BUT after i triple checked every possible in take hole, it blew the oil pressure line /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif half the truck was covered in oil.POS POS FOOK oil all over the driveway.SOB /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif try again tommorow. /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gifto /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif

carbs always get blamed for ignition trouble

if you need to impede airflow to get it to run then it is lean
now why is it lean?
vacuum leak or improperly set idle mixture?

or do you have a bad plug wire, fouled plug

Any update on the shipping for those carbs? I am still interested if your offer still stands. If not just let me know so I can start looking around locally.
Thanks
Monty
