Mechanical help that is.

I have a 87 k5 blazer. I cant get the rear window down with either the key or dash power switch. Nothing no noise nada.

Took the cover off the tailgate, and lowered the window with a drill. there are two wire connectors on the bottom of the tailgate. I am not getting any power to the gate itself. went to the fuse box under the dash. i dont see a specific fuse for the rear window. its a mess in there. looks like a birds nest.

anyways. a few questions.

Is there a specific fuse i should look at? could you send or post a pic of the fuse youre talking about?

would there be a fuse under the hood that i need to check?

there is a place for a fuse labeled "POWER WDO" but there is not even a fuse in there. Now even if i had a fuse, there is no little piece of metal connectors for the fuse to go into.

also, the safety switch. how do i bypass that? its really hard to work in there. there are three wires if i remember correctly. blue, black and white. but again i have no power in the first place.

Im no electrician. Is there somebody from the forum who lives locally or can reccommend someone to take a look at it.

I spent all weekend and made 0 (zero) progress.

The safety switch is located on, I believe, the drivers side latch on the inside of the tailgate. To bypass it you simply jumper the two terminals with a wire.

Some have said that there is an unmarked circuit breaker near the top of the fuse panel that does the rear window power.

The rear window should have three wires coming in, they are all power wires. There is one that is constant hot, and two that are switched by the dash switch. These two apply power one direction or the other to raise and lower the window. The other provides power to allow the key switch on the tailgate to switch power direction for the motor.

Since you have no power going back to the window, I would start by looking for the silver breaker at the top of the panel, if there isn't one in there, that is most likely your issue. Be certain that you have no power at any of the three wires, the one I looked at had orange as the constant power, while the other two were directional button power from the dash.

It shouldn't be the safety switch because the rear window will still go down even if the tailgate is open. Atleast it does on mine. I would say it had to be the main power going to the back.

Then I would try a jumper wire from a battery to each of the wires. As long as the battery you are jumping from is grounded to the chassis, you can at least test the motor while you look for the breaker that supplies the power.

I tried this once when I locked my keys in the truck and I couldn't make it work. I never got back to figuring out why that was.

When I did it with a Burb I stripped out, I believe I had to hit both the constant power wire and the up wire to the battery at the same time. It wouldn't run with just one wire, IIRC.
