i need help

87, TBI, no smoke. ya once it is going it runs fine. move from colorado to cali, made it to barstow then it started to acked up.

just tryed to start it to see were my timing was and now it won't start. she turns over i'm getting fuel and spark, so now i'm thinking my timing chain jumped a couple of teeth.

It did not jump a couple of teeth. That is a myth and is not possible. :)

Have you taken it someplace to get it scanned? WOT to start is the "clear flood" mode for TBI, so you may have a problem with the coolant temp sensor. That would easily show up on a scantool.
 
yesterday i pulled the #1 plug out to see if if was timed still and the end off it was broken off so i pulled the all the other ones and all but the #8 plug was broken now it starts normal but still have no movin power
 
Yeah, need to clarify that one. Was the insulator broken off on the outside of the cylinder? I assume so, otherwise you've got junk in the cylinders.

Only reason they SHOULD break like that is improper install. Plugs won't take any sort of side load on the external porcelain without cracking, such as trying to use a socket with headers when it's not a straight shot to the plug. Even if they don't actually fall apart, they EASILY crack.

Yeh, could never understand that one....if it still has the nylon timing gear a tooth or two might break off, but it won't just jump a tooth, there are too many engaged at any time to just jump a tooth.
 
Well, for one, that looks like a champion plug.

Were all of them black like that? Were they wet with gas, or dry when you first pulled them?
