ok, so my blazer is down for about 3 months and i just sold my dd today. i was thinking of picking up another full size chevy truck as a dd for the next three months. but i want to get my money back out of it at the end of three months. i'm only looking to spend $1000 or less and i was wondering what chances i have at making $1000 back out of it in 3 months. if i were to choose to part it out, how quick does a vehicle being parted out go? are the chances of me making $1000 back pretty good that way? what are your thoughts? would a first or second gen go quicker/easier for more/less cash?

It depends on the rust sitiauton in your part of the country. A mid-80's 3/4-ton 2-wheel drive Chevy pick-up would be an easy to buy, and then sell truck, if older trucks are plentiful over there.

well, it's not 2wd, but what about something like this? i haven't seen it, but it supposedly runs well and whatnot. from another pic, it looks like it might have a dent in the right side of the bed. fwiw, this one is listed for just shy of $900

now this one's got a 292 and a 4spd, listed just shy of $1k - what are the chances of me getting that out of it in 3 months? it's not as pretty, but i think a straight 6 would be fun and maybe better on fuel economy for me for 3 months.

A pick-up that runs and is tagged is worth $1000 give or take . It's quicker to sell a complete truck than to part it out , but it all depends on what you have and what you what for it.

i suppose if i found something with a 454, mountainexplorer would take it off my hands pretty quick. :haha:

Parting it out your still going to have peices left and prolly will just have to take it to the scrap yard to hope to get some money by a company that buys steel.

Well you could try this one. It wouldn't take too much to clean it up a bit and make it a lot nicer during those three months. Just a good wash, figuring something out with that bumper, and repainting those rims would do a lot for resale. You might even be able to make money off it.

The problem with buying a used 4X4 is that the reapairs can cost a lot more than a 2-Wheel drive because ther is more drivetrain devices to fix, but if that genration-1 floats your boat, then buy it. I think it looks cool.

I bought an old toyota cressida for 600 bucks, ran awesome, had a 6 cyl and wasnt too slow, power everything with a/c, I ended selling it for 650. But I did put new tires on it, cant beat it though I drove the hell out of it. Prefect little driver on the cheap.

nice bug deflector.........Is this one 3/4 or 1/2 I would think you could get the 1K out of it no problem. the other 85? looks clean, should be a quick seller.

Is this a 14ff/D60 set up or a 14sf/D44 set up? What engine, trans, and tranny? If it's in decent shape and has 14ff/D60 and decent other parts, I might by it from you and ship it down here to Tx after you are done with it.

There's no way that would last at $900 if it had a D60. There wouldn't even be a question about whether or not to but it.

Buy this one, drive it for 3 monhts bring it to Iowa or some other rust ridden state and sell it for twice as much easily

I dont know if your are familar with my K10 or not but after my dad and I repainted it i was offered 3 and 4 thousand bucks for it by a couple people and it was only a half ton

well, i decided to not go with either. they're both 3/4 tons and look like they'd be tons of fun, but a friend of mine is letting me borrow their volvo wagon for three months. :D it'll work.

good plan... less in ga$ too...

I was gonna recommend that you go out and get a cheap 80s 2wd toyota truck instead of a monser gas guzzler...
