I have read many different articles about setting minimum air on a TBI motor. I understand all the steps, but there is one little thing that I need cleared up.

When you go through the procedure, you always start by grounding out the A and B pins. I have read several articles that state that the paper clip needs to be removed before starting the truck, however I just read another article tonight that DOESN'T mention removing the paper clip before turning the key.

Which way is right? :dunno:

I have always left it in place. Even though it goes against my gut feelings about shorting something out then applying power to it.........

I think you may be confusing two different things, start and on positions.
I leave the paperclip in and just turn the ignition on, NOT START, and read the codes.
But before I engage the starter, I take the clip out, and start up the truck.
Hope this helps.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Like I said, several articles have warned against leaving the clip in place, and that's how I've always done it. It never dawned on me that you could just leave it in.......

Any other feedback on this?

From what i've read on a TBI you cannot set minimum air as the ECM does this for you, but on a TPI you can set minimum air.

I'm trying to look for where i read that it can't be done. If it can i need to know how because my rig idles too low but not all the time.
