I need to redo my brakes

My brake light comes on when I brake firmly and the breaks feel spongy. The rears are extremely catchy in wet weather. I have a 14 sf in the rear and 10 bolt up front.

I want to go with rear discs. Are the blazenoffroad and ruffstuff brackets the same?

I am going to get calipers and pads from napa for a '78 3/4 D44 HD correct?

Do I need anything else for the rear? Proportioning valve? Brake lines?

I plan on getting a line loc for my parking brake. I normally park on flat ground.

For the front, should I get new calipers? New rotors or have them turned?

Would now be a good time to change the MC? Go with stock 3/4 ton?

Will I need a pressure bleeder or can I gravity bleed?

<~~~Searching and reading right now. Just thought I would ask a few questions while reading.

Sorry, I try to scan for q's every couple if days....

But we've been busy......Way Busy!

Yes they are. We Value Jesse as a customer and many other shops carry our stuff also, we do almost 65% of our business so if your local dosen't carry Ruffstuff Specialties ask for it and they will.....

And to answer your questions.....

If your front brakes are in reasonable condition there is no reason to R&R them before they need it.

A 3/4 or 1 ton is always a good addition but not an absolute.

If the 14 bolt has been in awhile but the lines are still good you can usually adjust the hardline to fit but a 4-6" soft line makes it easier.

A pressure bleeder makes it easier but isn't neccessary.

Did I miss any?

thanks dan,

i ended up ordering the brackets from you. They arrived today and look great. I have looked at some of the disc brake threads, but I have a couple of questions for you or anyone that I still need to be clear on.

I pretty much only have napa at my disposal, but I usually get a good discount. They had rotors for $45 each and calipers for $18.70 each plus $22 core. Pads were 26 per set. I am ok with all this and these are before my discount. I do not mind online, except for the waiting and shipping.

I would like to go with a soft line off of the hardline. What will I need to make this happen?

What year caliper should I use to make brake lines and fittings the least hassel?

How do I handle the wheel studs? Do I need a press or bfh or ? :dunno:

I am still reading up on proportioning vavles, but time has been valuable (acting as owner/builder for our first home). Any suggestions on how to handle the proportioning aspect?
