My defrost wasn't working correctly. Ripped into the system and found the diverter door link broken. Also found the Diverter blend door link clip broken and the heater core starting to seep. Went to remove the suitcase and one of the PO's had been in there before. Every mounting bolt except for the easiest one was cross threaded and over tightened to the point that the clip on bolts were twisted.:doah: I f*%#ing hate monkeys who think they can fix sh*%. It makes a simple job turn into a daisy chain of annoyances.:poo: But then again if it was easy everybody would repair their own vics. :sign3: If only I had unlimited funds with all the time in the world.

LMC has a lot of those pieces. Or the junkyard or peeps parting stuff out. Is this on a a/c rig? I always hated the vac actuated stuff on those.

Sent from one a dem der smart phones

Ya it has a/c. Have to in the DSW. 120* F in the summer will melt your brain.
I have the whole system working as designed now. LMC doesn't carry any of the parts I needed exc the heater core. I don't like how most of the parts they carry are made in China.:poo: I'd rather pay more and get an American part even though they are few and far between. flagusa

This same exact thing happened to me when I went through mine. All but 1 of the holes in the firewall for the box to bolt to were jacked up. I ended up drilling the holes out a little and using rivnuts in them and it worked perfectly.

If you haven't seen rivnuts before, they are threaded rivits that you can sink into a hole and have threads, very handy.

i Lucked out when i did mine. Broke something major, and found a local guy on Craigslist that had just rolled a 91.....

Went over that day, and he had the firewall cut out of the cab. Unbolted what i needed, handed over cash, and left.

He had just installed a new heater core in teh box too!
