Pretty easy but it took alllll day. wow. Anyways I had to drill out the shock eye on the tower (7/16") and the frame for 1/2" bolts. I have a 1" body lift so I only had to do minor trimming of the inner fender lip to clear the towers. Everything went right on... which is a change for my installs, there's always a hangup.

Anyhow I wired the shocks up so that they where at half height, mounted the lower section to the axle and then set the angle the tower would sit at with some welding magnets, then marked the back of the tower for the exisiting holes and the bottom of the frame. Drilled the holes and trimmed the bottoms off. Bolts slide right in and everything fit good. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

as always here the pics! /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

OH, for a Daily Driver the gabrials seem very stiff (which is good), the azz end doesn't squat down at take offs (which helps with the vibes that I'm having), and other than forgeting to tighted the drivers side upper bolt before the test run all is well. Very happy with the $19.95 gabrials and the $20 shock towers /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif
I put the gabrials in the rear also... so the swap took right at $100

Looks good. I think I need to get off my a$$ and put my towers on two. The wife has been complaining for a while cause the shocks are in the back seat of the car.

I've had the shocks for 6 months and the towers for 4 months... I sold the shocks that where on the truck so I would HAVE TOO do the swap /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

another pic of the passengers side showing the angle of both shocks

Mabey I should try that. Nah, I'd just drive around with no shocks. Not sure how long I've had them, but the numbers must be around yours.

I just did mine too. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif I welded mine however as they could very well be subject to change. /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif

Good luck to y'all in the future.

do the shock towers come from a dealership (stock item?).
also, how much extra travel do you think you gained? (was that a bds lift too?).

i'm always so amazed how not rusty rigs are when you get outta the salt belt. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

I got mine online froma dealer ship in Texas. Do a search for ford towers and there is a couple of tower posts with links.

Also last fall when I done the BDS lift I took a flap wheel on the grinder, ground the frame completely down and painted the whole thing. As you can tell in a few sopts the rust is leaking back through. I might have to hit the heavy spots again.

kinda dumb question but in the rear did you use the original shock mounts or did you put the towers in the rear to

original mounts, I could move the upper mount up 2" because I have the room, but this is my DD and occasional ramp whore /forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

I paid about $35 a pair for mine by the time it was all said and done. If anyone wants the 2nd set I happen to have I'm willing to sell them for that price plus shipping, send me a PM.

From the looks of it, not only are they the same length, they ARE gabrials.

Your shackle angle sucks. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

pretty much, maybe within a 1/2"

do you know if the gabriels are the same lenght as the ranchos 90012'(i think the right number) at this point I rather go with gabriels for the price.
