I really have no idea how much to ask for this

So since changing direction with my 2 builds and planning on sending the Jimmy down the road, I have a 454 partially built.

I need to sell it, want to sell it locally I am sure shipping would kill the deal to a anywhere.

So its a completely rebuilt short block ( I haven't put it together yet but I will before I sell it) nothing special other than it has a lunati voodoo cam ( have to look at the specs but pretty mild one.

I have a edelbrock RPM manifold for it, have a serpentine belt setup for it. The ugly one that was not used on a build here.

I also have 781 heads for it that need redone.

Its basically a stock rebuild with some other parts.

Oh yah I have a fly wheel to go with it too.

How much do you guys think.

Maybe 700? Really be cool if I could get that out of it but I kind of don't think I can.

What would you pay for it?

knowing that it would need some work, but it is a big block. I would pay from 400-600 knowing it needs heads or head work and probably some other work and misc. parts.

I was thinking $700 is a good starting price to ask. Anything higher and you will see no replies.

I'm having trouble these days selling stuff now and I'm blaming the economy for the lack of sales. Only thing thats gonna sell stuff as quickly as before is lower prices. Are lower prices something you can live with or if you're like me, you hold on to stuff and let them collect dust while you buy more of other stuff to accumulate and clutter up the shop. Logic says to lower the asking prices to take a hit and move on.

Yeah. Guarantee with the way things are heading $600 now will buy more than $700 will in 2 years.

That may be a bit pessimistic but I think still a valid point. You know the old saying, a bird in the hand is worth more than 2 in a bush.... :dunno:

That can`t be a bad price...I haven`t seen a intake for less than 100.00,I know when I was looking for a flywheel for my old 78 I built over 20 years ago I couldn`t find on anywere and had to get my 350 one balanced for a 454...I would think that should be worth somthing? The heads gotta be worth 100.00 or more for sure.

And I wouldn`t want to know the cost of what it would take to rebuild the bottom end.

So I can`t see how 700.00 is to much.

I'm not much of an engine builder, but I'd be interested in it if it were about 2 years down the road. I need to strengthen up my drivetrain some and then I have considered either a mild 350 build or a big block swap. I would probably jump all over you setup if the timing was better.

Like you indicated, if you could find a local buyer it would be a sweet deal, but any long distance shipping will kill the sale price. Same thing I ran into selling my axles, but finally found a local buyer, and still took a hit just to get them outta my yard.

Good luck.

Depending on pistons Id say its worth more like $1000-$1200. A no guarantee 100k + miles "core" big block is worth $500 any day of the week.
