So for as long as I've been on here I've been puzzled as to why my truck with 8" of lift has clearance issues with my 38.5's (that actually measure out to 37" on the truck) while other guys are running 37's on similar lifts w/o any problems...
Well thanks to SLO C5 and his thread I think I figured it out...

Here are his rear 8" Superlift springs...

and here are my rear 8" Sperlift springs...

Notice how his have some arch to them and gaps at the end of the individual leaves? (Particularly the bottom two leaves since my top leaves are strapped together and his aren't). Mine are one on-top of another through the entire pack!
So they are sagging (not a true 8" of lift) as well as contributing to my sh!tty ride I've always complained about...

So are they supposed to look like his or is there something else going on?

Avery, yours are true 8" Superlift firm ride springs.

The other guys springs look like stockers with an add-a-leaf installed in the pack. Its the bottom spring on top of the flat overload factory spring at the very bottom. Plus, his is sitting on blocks, too.

Hmmm ok well then I give up... my springs officially suck. :)

I can't wait to rip them out when I get back to Cali!

Another thing: Superlift 8" and taller springs have square cut ends on each leaf. These are how firm ride springs are made.

Softer riding springs have tapers and curves on the ends of the springs.

How does the truck ride and handle? Compared to a stock truck and if you've ridden in a truck with a different lift manufacturer, say Tough Country, how do they compare? If they're unnoticable, I'd leave your springs alone and just play with tire pressure.

My 4" springs are like that. The guy I bought them from put in a add a leaf pack and a lift block on stock springs to make them have 4" inches of lift. The ride is the worst I've ever felt. Hoping to someday save up and get full 4" lift springs.

They ride like I'd imagine welding a piece of tube between the frame and axle would feel like... seriously they are REALLY stiff... I imagine if I played w/ shackles and the location of the mounts it would help a little but probably not a whole lot...
It handles great though :) I can take turns on the freeway at speed and have never ever had a problem (in good weather obviously... when its raining or foggy or something I go slower ;) )

Oh and no I haven't been in another truck w/ this much all spring lift (at least that I know of) so I don't have anything to compare it to... I'm yanking them in favor of a shackle flip and TC springs out back and as of now 52's (w/ the B52 kit) and zero rates in the front... oh and I'm dropping tires so it should be perfect...
This'll just be my daily driver/backup toy... I'm starting a new build for the sand that won't see the street...
