I think I just scored a rare k5......

Oh... I read this list on production numbers from the dieselplace forum...

1982 - 9,438 diesel Blazers
1983 - 7,176 diesel Blazers
1984 - 4,230 diesel Blazers - also 23,000 military diesel Blazers
1985 - 2,100 diesel Blazers
1986 - 1,260 diesel Blazers
1987 - 310 diesel Blazers
1988 - 270 diesel Blazers
1989 - 230 diesel Blazers
1990 - 160 diesel Blazers
1991 - 92 diesel Blazers
1992 - 1993 No diesel Blazers
1994 - diesel Blazer offered again - with 6.5 S turbo 6.5. Only 3% of total production was diesel.

So do you have plans?
What's it like?
I would assume that it is fairly clean, but may be sunbaked.....

Paging @campfire

Look in the door and see what the month & year of production is. It would be cool to be diesel rare AND very late in production.

So do you have plans? Plans are just to take care of issues (worn IP, slow windows, fixing cruise control etc.) and drive it.
What's it like? Drivers door repainted at one time, some clear coat pealing, interior is pretty nice, overall pretty good.
I would assume that it is fairly clean, but may be sunbaked..... Oddly not as baked as a college kid, but dash is thrashed.

I'll try to check on the date of production later and get back to you

No, this is the last year of the old body style. It has the NA 6.2. They never put a mechanical diesel in the GMT400, just the stupid PMD 6.5 version (I think 1994 only).

Clean truck. I can't believe they only made 92 diesel Blazers in '91.

I wonder how many diesels were ordered with a manual transmission. Now that's a really rare combo!

I don't think they ever mounted a manual transmission to a diesel in a blazer. They all had the 700R4 (until '94 when they may have had a 4l80E)
You could only get the diesel with a manual in the trucks (maybe suburbans)

ryoken, NO, I don't equate rare with valuable, just hard to find.

You could get a diesel with a 465. I have seen an 89.

So are those seriously the production numbers?

My 89 would seem to be fairly rare too.

And in 93 in a gmt 400 they used a mechanical injection 6.5l turbo. Not blazers but pickups

I have 2

Nice looking truck!...it'd be considered "mint" up here...

It is interesting how many diesels were made, and how fast the numbers dropped after the early 80's...

I wonder how many 1985 K10 Suburbans with 6.2's were made--the one I have seems to be a loner,I have seen only 2-3 Suburbans with a diesel from the 80's around my area...one was a custom rig ,like a "Choo-Choo" with the fancy interior and wood grained dash, console, sun visor,etc...the other was a gray primer beater with 40" tires and lots of rot...

diesel4me, I have an '83 diesel Suburban.

blazinzuk, I know they made the stick available with the diesels (6.2 and 6.5), I just didn't think they ever used that combination in a Blazer (from the factory, I have seen conversions).

I am aware of the '92/'93 mechanical DB2 pumped 6.5, but again, not in a Blazer.

blazinzuk.... you mentioned the '92/93 6.5 NV4500..... I'd love to have one of those combinations.

Well if I could get the trans from my buddy I would have one 1993 6.5 with a nv4500, mechanical injection. But unfortunately the motor sits here with me and the transmission sits there with him.

I drove that truck several times it was a good combo.

By those production numbers, all CUCVs are '84s.
