Where the Army tells me to!
I've been failling DEQ for the past couple of days because of high hydrocarbons. The last guy went I went through told me it was running to lean and to try disconnecting the EST wire (brown and tan), and try it again.. Holy **** it worked, it brought my hydrocarbons from 476 down to 148 and it sounds and runs and smells better ( the exaust smelled pretty strong before) now I know I need to plug the EST back in but how do I get it to run right when I do? TIA

Oh yea, O2 sensor, coolant temp sensor, and vaccum lines are new

Timing, tune up, Look for vaccum leaks cracked hoses, Common for the throttle body gasket to fall apart and cause a big vaccum leak.

they also had a big problem with the throttle body base gasket leaking, would be worth replacing just because of that and its only $2.50

I set the base timing to zero and it runs good until I and shut it off plug it in and start it again and I replaced all vacum lines yesterday, which fixed my idle. I sprayed starting fluid around the base of the TB and there was no change,

have you checked for trouble codes?
You will get a 42 from disconnecting the timing bypass wire. but see if there are any other codes. You can reset the ECM by disconnecting the ground from the battery for a few minutes.
If no codes I would try replacing the distributor module.
How old is the fuel filter?

I'm not getting any codes except when I disconnect the EST wire. How hard and how expensive is replacing the dist. module? Fuel filter has maybe 2,000 miles on it. Could running lean cause my fuel mileage to suck?
