last tuesday (3rd) some lady swerved to avoid a dog on 680 going about 60, lost control, bounced off the center divider went sideways across the freeway right in front of my truck. Everyone, including the other driver, got away without major injuries, i think whiplash and possibly fractured ribs for me were the worst (I was in the back seat so lap belt only)

kinda screwed up my 4th, but we still went up to the Con and Tahoe had a good time considering. Hard to watch everyone else playing up there and me being without my toy.

anyways on to the pics...

Sorry about your accident though

The frame is still straighter than mine I bet

yeah, I just noticed, not sure why it did that... trying to pad my post count, you know :)

Woah, looks like some heavy duty damage. Glad you didn't get hurt worse. So did the other driver get a ticket? Insurance going to handle your damage?

Always seems like everybody involved in crashes takes it in the shorts as far as payouts for damage to the vehicles. Good Luck!!

Short of hitting a bull moose or an elephant, I don't swerve for animals while going more than 20MPH.

My life and other peoples lives are more important than a dog, cat, squirrel, etc.

Glad to hear you're O.K.

I think her insurance will have to give me something, but I really don't think it's gonna work out the way I'd like it to...

For real, that's pretty much what everyone was saying to her...What were you thinking, hit the damn dog!!! she asked the CHP officer if there was a fine for hitting a dog, and I almost died... look at the damage around you, hell I would have paid the fine for you if there was such a thing rather than this:doah:

thanks guys, I'm glad we are all ok as well. it sucks that it was my rig, but in another sense, it was good we were in a truck

Being originally from S. Cal., that's why I like my wife driving a tank:

I'd rather kill than be killed in an auto accident.

And it looked like you rig absorbed a ton of energy!

You need to start getting every receipt for everything you have spent on the truck together and list out all the mods you spent money on. Find out what the NADA value is as well as the local replacement value. Get all of this information together and documented so that you can back up the total loss value that you deserve.

I had a laddy run a stop sign and hit my Blazer. When the insurance appraiser came out he was talking about a $1500-$2000 settlement. Once I showed him all the receipts for the winches, tires, rims, engine, axles, etc. he took a copy of all the receipts and took pics of the aftermarket equipment and said he would be calling me. When he called me back his said he was willing to settle for $6,100 and some change with a buy back of $1,000. I took the $5,000 and kept the truck. Replaced the front clip and bought axles, bigger lift, new rims and tires with the rest:D

Unfortunately it looks like you will be looking for another ride though. Hell get you a rust free body and frame and swap your stuff over. Aggrevating and time consuming but well worth the coin saved.

Anyway, glad all of you are ok.

yep, that's what I'm up to right now, gathering reciepts. hopefully it will work out similar to your case, that's good news. I pry will end up swapping parts, it's a lot of work though. I guess I'll find out how fast i can undo and redo 3 yrs worth of work :). Do a few upgrades on the way and come out with a better rig in the end and hopefully have some money to put into it also.

I know it's aggravating, I was pissed when I hit her. The good news is that no one was seriously hurt and my truck came out better in the end. Hope your deal works out as well for you. Good luck.

My issurance company thinks my truck is worth $500 because issuring a teenage boy in taxachusetts is insane so we fudged the numbers a little...
But I am worried that if I'm in an accident my issurance company will only be giving me $500 when my truck is worth much more than that.

JEBSR is right on the money. Get all reciepts. If you can't get reciepts, then get estimates. On the flip side of the coin. GO TO THE DOCTOR. Make sure that you are O.K. Go 2 or 3 times just to be sure that you are O.K. Her insurance will pay for your doctor visits. When I got into my accident, I had a strained back, and so did my brother. We both ended up with $1000 medical settlements after we turned down the $200 they offered up first, and went back for a follow up doctor visit. The moral is that you don't want to sign off if you arent sure that something isn't going to bite you in the future.

all good advice, I have a follow up doctor appt tomorrow to get x-rays and talk to them about my neck some more.

other than reciepts and what not, any other things i should think about when dealing with her insurance?

thx

Best advise in the world, as much as I hate them, get a lawyer. Dad wrecked his truck when a kid cut him off. His preference was to put the truck in a ditch rather than kill the kid and send him spinning into traffic. Turns out the kids mom was a UHP trooper and her insurance tried to offer him 500 for pain and medical and less than 1000 for his Ford High Boy. Needless to say after the lawyer call it went up quite a bit. It doesn't always happen, but insurance is not there to pay you, they are there to make money, and lawyers are there to help, and make money.
