I'v had 2 s-10s and have always wanted to do a v8. Iv actually have had the headers and mounts to do the swap since owning my 1st one. well i sold the truck and the mounts.


well now as of wednesday night I have found out that Pinks all out is coming to Woodburn drag strip in july and now I have the chance of buying another s10....

so do i build one for the show??

it's a 84 2.8 manual 2wd short bed and would stripped to the lightest weight I can. the guy wants $200 I have a good working th400 and a rebuildable 350 already( valve stem seals)...I would just double check the motor to make sure it's gonna hold together and thinking of throwing nos on it just because. LOL

the only really $$ issue is the driveline and shipping of a jegs cage for it.

Get a low price 383 kit for it. From what I've seen of that show your definatly gonna want to have Nitrous.

When you go to do a rear end make sure you use a car 12bolt not a truck one. That is if you use a 12bolt. Try a dana 60 I heard theres less drivetrain loss through them.

Other suggestions : Gut the interior, remove the entire floor of the bed and just brace it with a few pieces of tube. That should drop some weight. Remember running NO tailgate is more aero dynamic. Also dont forget every 100lb's is a tenth of a second in the quarter. Use electric fan and water pump to cut down on rotating mass.

If ya even build the 383 mild it'll at least put you into the high 11's setup right in that little truck. Spray it and run flat 11's all day.
