I believe your right , no numbers on anything I took out.

Take a punch and make dimples in the hub wear the bearing race rides it will give it enough bite to hold the race

I had a hub that the inner bearing must have spun in,you could turn the outer race by hand after driving it into place..
I tried the center punch trick and it didn't last for long--till I could find another good hub,I decided to try using an old feeler gauge as shim stock (couldn't read the printed size on it,so it was no good to me otherwise!)--this made the bearing race tough to drive back in,but it worked great and I do not ever remember replacing the hub after that, now that I think about it...:tongue1:

All jokes aside I had the same problem. Ended up in a parking lot with siezed bearings. This was a continous problem with that hub,I got a hub from a junkyard and haven't had the problem since. And yes I used the dimple trick before it let me down again.

Found some on CL. 3 to be exact. Had to drive 1.5 hrs ea way but he only wanted a 6 pack of good beer = $10 for them all. I also got some hubs for a Ranger or jeep ? To convert to locking hubs?

The price of new hubs and spindles is ridiculous isn't it? The hub and spindle I got from the junkyard went on my truck with the bearings that came in it.

I thought small-bearing (early) D44 hubs were all external-lockout. Those look like later big-bearing D44/10-bolt hubs. :dunno:
