I thought if your EGR solenoid is un plunged you would get a code ? I been trying to chases down my high idle problem on my 90 blazer with a tbi 350. The idle was around 1200 rpms no mater what so I changed out the IAC then I got an erratic idle 500- 1500 rpm so I changed the EGR out idle was better but it would stumble and run rough up to 1500 rpms if I would go easy on the throttle. I unplugged the EGR solenoid and now it runs nice and smooth but it still won't idle right. I adjusted the base idle it was down to about 300 rpms I got it back up to 750 rpms. I jumped pins A and B on the ALDL to do the adjustment and the I shut it down plugged back in the IAC and started it and it idled 750 rpms shut it off waited 10 or so started it 1500 rpms. I can't figure this thing out if any one could h elp it would be great. Thanks

High idle problems with fuel injection are usually caused from a vacuum leaks or worn out TB.Another cause could be the timing staying advanced which will cause a higher than wanted idle.

but it would stumble and run rough up to 1500 rpms

Had this same issue till i replaced both my solenoid and egr. Figured if I was dropping cash on the egr might as well get a solenoid since the egr itself was at least twice as much as the solenoid. Replacement of the solenoid didnt fix it(was done first), replacing the egr valve did though.

Never threw a code, maybe the solenoid is creating a vacuum leak?

EDIT: 91 350 tbi w/250k+ on it.

I think I fixed it the high idle problem I think I got a bad IAC valve and I set the base idle wrong. Out seems to run good with out the EGR hooked up so if that won't hurt anything and its not throwing a code I thought about just leaving it alone. I don't have passing a smog test or anything like that where I live.

Thanks for the help though sometimes its easy to get frustrated with these motors.

Instead of running without it hooked up you shOuld he using a well siliconed and gasketed block of plate to prevent vacuum leaks. Some block of plates are thin. If you can't find a good one make one out of thick steel.

You've got a good point I think I'll make a block off plate my father in law has a shop so it won't be to hard to do.
