you guys that still have carpet. i have a maroon carpet that i wanna replace. i bought one from lmc truck was all excited to open the box, when i did it was mcdonalds red! i mean the brightest red carpet youve ever seen. where can i find and original maroon front and rear carpet?

When you find a "good" carpet let me know.

I've been trying to find something for my 1st gen that won't fade but there's nothing on the market that's UV protected.
(that I can find anyway)

I had mine done by an upholstry guy I know. He used bulk carpet and cut it to fit, and It looks sweet. It is boat carpet, he likes to use it cause it lasts longer, takes more abuse, and doeesn't fade as bad.

No that is the right color!!! See they do that (advertise moroon and send red) because it "faaaaades" into moroon over time. It's basicly a time released color action.:haha: (wow.......... imagine if I were right?) :eek1:

I just did my 89 a couple months ago. I went with www.stockinteriors.com I requested several samples and chose the one I liked best. The product arrived on time, as requested, and competetively priced. The fit and finish is good (accuratly molded, trim to fit). I got lower doors, kick panels, and extra yardage to make new side panels. Overall I am very satisfied with the overall experience.

That maroon red color you have is due to years of fading and dirt being ground into the carpet. When they were brand new, they were very bright red color too

Thank you for the link! :waytogo:

Just ordered the carpet kit for my 1st gen.

Looks to be a decent product and was able to get the correct carpet 'style' for my year. :cool1:

Guess it'd be a little less likely to milldew also, huh? What'd it run you price wise?

thats false. i removed the center console for the first time since it was factory installed it and cut out a piece thats been covered for twenty years and it is moroon not red.

Its called "Ox Blood" and can be found at http://www.accmats.com/ Cost about $300 for full carpet and fit really well...
