Im sick of having a peice of **** stock 2.8..one of the ****tiest engines ever..can someone tell me where i would be able to find the correct engine mounts to put a small block in my s10 blazer..im also curious as to how hard of a project is this..i kno it has been done a lot but what does it all require modifying/replacing/removing/buying besides the engine itself..

Any info you have about this swap will be useful..is there anywhere that I can buy a manual or book that guides you through this swap?

Will i have to lengthen or shorten either of the driveshafts in this swap?

Don't qoute me on it , but last time I saw a write up , the bellhousing stayed put . The engine was longer by two cylinders at the front . Electric fans would be your friends .

GO TO S10 EXTREMIST NOW

look up the 3.4l camaro swap, i did that on my last truck, felt like it doubled my power. plus i went from 14-15 mpg to 19-20.

it was an easy swap

my truck was an 87 5spd 4x4

There are several sites with plenty of info for doing that swap. You will need the mounts, rad(aftermarket or from a 4.3 truck/astro van) You can use a mech. fan if you place the engine back on the mounts, You will also need the oil pan for the swap. It can be fabbed from the top of a sb pan and the sump from the 2.8 pan,or may be purchased from a coulpe sources. Then use a 2.8 pick up tube. Then you will have to decide on headers or manifolds. If you choose manifolds the best choice is the low performance third gen camaro. There may be others that fit but these will work the best for clearance with the steering column. It may seem like alot of work but the results are more then worth it.

there are engine mount kits and exhaust kits for this
hope you have some $ to waste

2.8l is a good little engine, i have one in the 91 and it runs drives like brand new

must be your carb thats messed

mines TBI

i swore it was a 4.3L truck til i popped the hood only to see a non-4.3L in it, i was like wow its not a 4.3!

it runs like one though

good little engine :D

ive never personally seen anyone with any trouble out of a 2.8

i see alot of oil burning and other problems with the 4.3 alot though

good luck

can you use the stock transmission too or no?..also when getting the 350 that i want to drop in should i get it from a junkyard and rebuild or buy rebuilt..does it matter whether i get 2 bolt or 4 bolt main

Forget the stock tranny, you will burn it up the second you hit the gas.

4 bolts are typically stronger, but it doesn't matter much unless you are going for over 500hp.

You never said if this was 2wd or 4wd. If it's 2wd, then you don't need to get an oil pan, or fancy headers, or anything fancy for that matter. Summit has engine plates that moves the whole engine forward, IIRC it was $100, and a total waste of money. I used headers from Summit, can't remember the brand, but was only $100 or so. Have to clearance the firewall some, but not much. Biggest radiator you can fit, and stock mech fan will fit, just close. If its 4wd, then can't help yah, never did one.

The tranny will not bolt up as the 2.6 is a 60 degree engine vs the sb being 90 degree. They have different bolt patterns. I could scan the advance adapters book of the swap if you want, it will give you a much better idea of what you will need to do the swap.

I think i am just going to get a new transmission to put in with the 350..do you have any idea what type of transmissions would be a good choice for my application and how to change the output shaft because im going to need too for the transfer case

TH400 or TH350 or 700r4. any of those will work. if it is only your daily driver of course.

Screw the auto! Go with the SM465 and NP205 :D

If you decide to do this I have the motor mounts, jtr book, body lift kit, exhaust manifolds, and maybe some other stuff.

P.M. me and let me know
