so digging threw my old parts mix-n-matching the best goodys i have for the BUDGET BEATER build i found i had the old school hypertech salad bowl setup off he old plow trucks tbi engine .

so i setup a pic of both stock filter unit with stock tbi spacer ring . this filter base is from a 80's 454 truck .

then the modified 88 tbi base was set on .

i think we are going to try for the salad bowl and mod base . . . .

only thing is its 1" higher off the engine with salad bowl . so i will have to check hood clearance as nothing is stock . have edelbrock rpm intake / holley sniper unit / salad bowl / short hat filter top . . possible tall hat if it fits with the tall filter .

Buddy swore that his truck was down on MPG, and up in power with the salad bowl on his rig. Ended up taking it off as he didn't feel the loss of MPG was worth the amount of perceived power it provided.

Purely anecdotal, just relaying what his impression was of it. He did before/after of the MPG, but when talking 1-2MPG, that kind of result is pretty hard to say is absolutely true.
