when adjusting the idle air control you jump a & b on the aldl connector, do you keep it jumped when you start the engine or do you pull the paper clip and then start the engine before you adjust the idle air,
You need to jump the A-B terminals with the key on and engine off, wait 30 seconds then disconnect the IAC wiring, next remove the jumper on the A-B terminal and start the engine then adjust base idle.
You can blow the ECM if you start the engine with the A-B terminal jumpered.
It is rare that you ever need to mess with the base idle. Why are you going to adjust it?
the TBI unit was not a new one and it had already been messed with, I had done all the steps correctly and just needed to confirm that what I did was done right, It now idles smooth as can be
