im guessing your talking about the "bottom" of the bell housing, to cover up t he clutch/torque converter. you can find those for about $15-$20 for the metal ones for around $50 or so.

yea but whats the real name for it, ive tried searching forever and cant figure out exactly what its called to look it up in catalogs

i think that might be it but if it is than finding one of these is gonna be harder than figuring it out what it is from the places ive asked so far

Looks like a manual trans to me.

"cover, flywhl hsg" is what GM calls it.

http://dyeager535.topcities.com/partsmanual.html parts diagram and listing there for the clutch.

Looks like there are at least three different ones of those later on, based on 6.2L, 454, or small block, and something "major" changed between 1985 and 1986. This doesn't make it easy. :(

Part number for a 1985 K1 (so any of the half ton stuff) w/305H or 350L or M is 15592295

for 1987 RV1,2,3 (so all trucks 2 or 4wd) with the 5.0H, 5.7K, or 350M the part number is 15521937

both part numbers appear to be discontinued.

so pretty much i have a slim chance at getting this? its for a sm465 out of a 75, if anyone happens to come across one and can grab it for me and shipping it to 92679 wouldnt be insane then let me know.

Well, they shouldn't be that hard to find, but getting them new looks difficult.

Did you check LMC truck?

The earlier setups like yours might use an entirely different part number, as the ones I posted are newer, the old ones seem to be 6 digits. Of course sometimes the part numbers are simply superseded.

looked through lmc last night but was kinda falling asleep while i was doing so, i guess i just need to go search some yards but its kinda hard when your license is suspended and your busy from 9am-10pm throughout the week. if anyone has one laying around or happens to come across one of these and remembers me id greatly appreciate it if you could snag it for me its for a sm465 powered by a 350 if that matters(not sure if the oil pan would effect this)

Fly wheel inspection cover. ...............Check with JC Whitney I bought one brand new for my Cj for about 15 bucks a while back.
