Guy says these are the 76-78 eldos. Can anyone confirm that they are the correct years for my disk swap and not the 79-85 types. THanks.

If the pins measure app. 7" and not 5.5?(specs on TSM) then they are correct. Look exactly like the ones I pulled off of a 78 eldo. You will have to fab a cable bracket on axle tub, something I have not accomplished 'cause I dont have it mounted under truck or rebuilt calipers. Plan on factoring in $57 and up for exchanged rebuilts. My small parts were crumbled upon disassembly.

Some people are saying that this lever style is the inferior of the two, but I found some just like this and didnt want to have to buy two later calipers for brackets and these/or cough up core

Would anyone know what rebuild kit to get for the 76-78 caddy calipers or is it somewhat of a standard rebuild kit that is used for many types?

You cannot go solely on pin spacing as the Fleetwood and Seville calipers are the same spacing as the Eldos but they won't work because the pistons are different and won't fit over the rotor.

i bought 2 rebuild kits from napa... and they were wrong... seems they put the wrong piston in... i found that the new piston was too long... so i just used my old ones as cores and got new ones.....

hopefully you have better luck than me on the rebuilds... i was getting really mad....

Scott, being that the guy on CL is selling these calipers as eldo's from the proper years for my disk swap, is there any obvious sign in the pics that would tell/show me these are the right ones? I just don't want to get hosed on these if the guy is full of chit and just trying to make a buck by being dishonost. Any idea what the right spacing between the brake pad facing would be? The area where the back of the pads rest against the caliper. I assume I could take the standard non-ebarke calipers with me and compare the dimensions, right? Would there be a GM part # stamped on the calipers to indicate, and if so, what #? Thanks
HOby

The Fleetwood, Seville, and Eldo all use the same casting it is the piston that is different. I don't have the dimension you're looking for but comparing to a GM front caliper would work. IIRC when the pison is fully retracted it is almost flush with the rubber dust boot and the Fleetwood/Seville sticks out about 3/16" or so.

I recall the same thing on mine. Probably the best way to check without having a new one to confirm. You could also get some new brake pads and measure the thickness of the pads along with your brake rotor and see if that measurement will fit within the caliper. It'll be really tight even with the piston fully retracted.
