The only way I've checked my ratio is by doing the wheel spinnning/ shaft turn counting thing :o

I finally got off my lazy butt and pulled the front cover today. The oil looks nice, and it doesn't look bad or diry in there at all. On the side of the carrier I saw
GM 132 8703 N

on the back side of the ring gear as GM 61

I was guessing the ratio is 3.73 from the wheel turning trick. What is it really?

Its a corp 10 3/4ton front

thanks,

on the front of the pinion there's a 78 and a bunch of dots... I can't see anything on the ring gear, i bet it would have to be turn over some..

yeah look the whole thing over it will be on the thick part that points forward on the ring gear, spin it around and get all the #s thats the ones that count

if I jack the axle up, and turn one tire, will the ring gear turn over.....or would the t case also have to be in neutral?

Where are the important numbers in the 14ff rear? I may just wait and see if the nubmers are easier out back when I go to change the fluid back there....

if it is full time then yes on the x-case, 14bolt will be the same spot on the ring gear, just jack up one tire and spin it till some more #s come around

me useless numbers form the carrier

1252981

Do any of these numbers mean anything whatsovever?

The numbers are going to have a space between them... I have a dana carrier carrier in front of me and it has a bunch of numbers then a space with 43 then a space then 13... Divide 13 into 43 and you get 3.55s

dang, couldn't get it turned to find the numbers on the ring gear... jacked up the front axle and tried numerous np203 ****er positions.. many of which should have been neutral, but appearantly its not going into neutral, because when I turn the tires, its binding up at the t case. Does the tranny have to be in neutral for the t case to be truly in neutral??? Whatever be the case, I'm gonna say screw it and RVT the cover back on.. maybe I'll have better luck with the rear 14ff!!!

Uhh....Just disconnect the driveshaft at the diff, then jack it up and spin it around. Or have someone back it up while you watch and wait for the #'s to come around

he he.... my RVT is already curing... I'll check when I do the rear, and hopefully end up finding somebody to make me a Jethro style spiderball :D
