figured it would be a good idea to start this....

Here's mine: a first timers award. everyone who registers a vehicle and its their first time having a rig at BB gets entered. they all get an award (like a special sticker or something). 1 vehicle picked random from all the first time entrants gets a cow bell and has to hang it from the rig on the hells revenge run before the BBQ. then he signs the cow bell at BBQ and repeat next year.

It's my first year running it. I am not excited to add anything else until I get one event under my belt.

The only improvement I could see would be capping group sizes on certain trails. A line of 20+ trucks can be a real pain in the ass at times. You're always going to have a few that don't move at the same pace and depending on the trail that can get tricky, keeping everyone on course, communicating, etc...

X2 and that's why we decided to run the other trails with smaller groups. Saturday was six rigs on Flat Iron Mesa, it was awesome.

Hells invasion is meant to be big. In 2016 we had 47 trucks total and still hit pavement at 3:30. This is so everyone can meet and see the trucks working.

Finding trail leaders is an issue.

Prichett is the only one with a limit due to its difficulty.

Anyone who has ran a trail with me knows I like to keep them moving. We stop for the obsticals for pictures but then get moving quickly. And teaching the slower drivers how to keep up.

This year we had 3 very rookie drivers with us on Flat Iron Mesa. A little instruction had them keeping up and we were done by 2:30.

Golden Spike was also limited due to difficulty. The trail I led (Pritchett/Behind the Rocks) was extremely difficult and was not for people that come to Moab once a year to wheel. It was for people that know their rigs and wheel them all year long and are looking for a challenging trail with a good group of people.

I got tired of the constant breakage that happens when people throw their rigs together in time to drag it to moab for their yearly outing, just to find out that it doesn't work right. That's why I took the side route with a small group on Crack N Back through Rusty Nail.

Couple suggestions for the bigger groups:

Trail leader, Mid gunner and Tail gunner... *3 designated positions* ALL trail leaders/gunners should have CBs.

In the drivers meeting those using little walkie talkies should sync up on a channel. (we found a lot of people had those in addition to the CB)

Another suggestion is pound down the RULE that you MUST see the vehicle behind you before you move on. Our group was slower than mud because they had no idea where they were going and they kept stopping and asking me to get out of my truck to ask the people behind us for directions.

I go to Easter Jeep Safari every year (35-50 vehicles each trail) and thats how they do it, even if they had 8 vehicles they have 3 leaders and constant contat, visually and with radios.

I will sign on the line and be a mid or tail gunner next year for any of the trails i sign up for. This year i was tail gunner for hells and enjoyed it.

(my suggestions are in no way a complaint aginst anyone or anyting from BB17 it was a blast and everyone was amazing)

At one point it was mentioned about doing the "tech inspection " again. I have mixed feelings about it

That's a hard one, if you have all the gear in the world and an inexperenced or bad driver you wont be able to wheel over anything. on the flip side i have seen almost stock vehicles running tiny AT tires and open diffs with a really good driver walk all over some nice rigs. ( skill can trump equipment ) also how do you check for a full time locker on 30+ trucks? make them do dohnuts in a parking lot and listen for the tire screatch ;)
