Well its almost time to get my beast on the road/ to the trail. I'm going to be running with out any doors, so I am trying to think of ideas how to mount mirrors. For the short trail rides I usually drive and leave the tow rig at home. Just want to keep it friendly for the law :) Or at least any ideas until I can fab some tube doors up, or maybe even buy a set. I wish I could buy time, because I never have enough of it!!

Maybe if you mounted then to the front fender or somehow to the front pillar. I would fab some the doors LOL. It's a great excuse

get some tow mirrors. they clip on the inside of the wheelwell and the gap between the hood and the fender. i'll get some pics next week for you if you're interested in seeing what they look like. really basic design and they're removable.

as long as I don't end up going to a few concerts this weekend, I think I may just fab up a simple door with a mount on it.

JekquistK5,

I made a quick bracket that I bolted to the fender bolt that's near the top door hinge. I'll snap a quick pic or two when I get back from work. I'm on the road now.

i really like mine mounted on the hood. it works well because i don't have to worry, for the most part, about it getting ripped off the door or pushed through the glass (been there, done that... both of 'em :doah: ) i really like the way it looks too, but i don't think i've encountered anyone else who likes the way it looks...

I like it, it is nice and subtle. Where did you get the mirror?

that's a chevy mirror off of the early 70's trucks, meaning post-'72. what i mean is, it was offered on the square bodied chev trucks - don't know what they might have looked like '72 and earlier. i have a few of these, all came off of pick up doors from around '73-'74 ish, but i don't know the years exactly. :)

the disadvantage of these, tho is that since the mirror is small, if you use your mirror for mass visibility (instead of just the blind spot), it won't work too well. It's a small mirror, and the farther away you mount it from your eye, the smaller the angle of vision. i use my mirrors only for looking at my blind spots, so it's not a big deal. I don't find many people who use their mirrors like i do tho... most want to use it to see the world and ignore the blind spot - looking over the shoulder for that instead.

I did the same as IAK2004.. Nice fast and easy... and if you put the doors back on they will still work as is.

Here's some of the pics I could find. Truck is under the tarp for 1 month of rain we have....so I snapped 2 pics to show the idea. Have to remove them and paint.
I got rid of the doors, so they ain't going back on. In the Bay Area CA, you have sun 11 months of the year :D

Thanks guys, Once I get out there with a welder and some steel I will think of something!

this is a pic of one of the mirrors i was talking about. it's a universal thing, fits any fender, installs in about 2 minutes. it doesn't look as good as any of these other ones but it does the trick and you can take them off when you're offroad so they won't get hurt.
