Yeah so I found these random connectors hanging off the wiring harness that goes down to the starter soleniod. I can't figure out what they are and more importantly, do I have to have them dangling there like a pair of hairy testicles?

Can't really tell from the fuzzy pic but the one wire could be the terminal for the knock sensor .

Knock sensors only have one wire going to them. Im thinking something like the wires that goes to the rear window????

It is fuzzy but it looks like 1 plug with 1 wire and another plug with multiple wires. Look behind the intake on the back of the block and see if you have the dual sending unit hookup for oil pressure. One of mine has that setup and the plugs look like the setup you have there

Maybe, the previous owner installed a mechanical oil pressure gauge and put it inplace of the oil warning light. My truck came from the factory with the warning lights, no gauges, so that may be the sending unit for it.

Those look to be some pretty beefy wires on the other plug though, have no idea what would need wires like that so far down on the block.

Does your blower motor work? Cause that single wire/boot looks like the big blower lead and the rest of that may be the blower relay plug thats goes to the relay near the blower.

So, I might have figured out what one of the those randome connectors are.
You guys were right, the smaller one with one wire is a knock sensor because I realised that the engine actually used to be that crossfire fuel injection so I think it was a left over from when the PO switched on a carb.
I have a question about the X-fire injection, do they use mechanical or electrical fuel pumps?
Also where is the knock sensor lacated on the block?

x-fire was electric fuel pumps afaik, it was a true electronic injection system.
Knock sensor is over the starter, threads into the drain plug in the block.

Looks to me like one is an electrical oil pressure sending unit wire, and the other is a oil pressure switch for an electric choke, or fuel pump backup circuit.
Both components would be right beside eachother, coming off the oil pressure line at the rear of the intake.

ive also sceen the knock sensor above the oil filter, and i believe the connector is round not square, and

Yeah when I bought the truck I was under the impression that it was only a 85 and a 74 together.
Yup sway bar is still there, I will keep it in because I don't like body roll.
