Does anyone know of a website that list what chip code came in what year model vehicles. I'm talking about the 4 letter code that is on the silver sticker on top of the chip. I found a website yesterday but i forgot to save it and now i can't locate it. :doah:

I know if i could remember the correct terminology for that code i could probably find what i'm looking for.

Ok, i've found a MUCH better source. Here it is in case anyone else is looking for it. ftp://ftp.diy-efi.org/pub/gmecm/bin_lib/

There used to be a website that listed just about every BCC you could think of, but last I checked, it was gone. It was pretty in-depth...you could search by year, engine, etc.

Damn, that sucks. Sure wish we had the backend to that stuff so we could put it somewhere safe.

Only thing I can find.

The old thing was BCCfind, according to what thirdgen states, some people were selling stuff on ebay, and using that guys work somehow in their auctions, so the owner took it down.

I bet it's still out there, don't know his name though. It'd be worth talking with the guy...

The 4-letter code (AWBP for example) is refered to as the Broadcast Code.

What specifically are you looking for?

Well, after some more reading and looking I found my numbers.

The computer in the suburban has been changed.

It has AWBP on the chip and the white plactic holder has 16154461 on it.

I can't find any related files for the BCC AWBP looking through the sites that have been posted.

Well the only thing I have been able to find was by googling

ECM 16154461

And that came up with one hit that was to a chinese site. I used google to translate it and the only thing it had listed was

Any help out there?

16154461 - I do believe this is for the 91 4l80e as I can find no other refereneces to this serv code.

When talking to Brian he says the AWBP is the important part to know. I purchased the chip, fuel pump, and spring from him about 30 minutes ago. After I made the final choice on the induction system.

Back on track now.

So I ordered my aldl cable, TunerPro RT and got my old win2000 laptop fired up. I'll test this out with the old motor and chip so I have some idea about what I'm doing when it comes time to log the new motor.

I'll be asking plenty of questions about this topic. Was someone going to start an ECM/BCC/ALDL data logging thread? Scott?

Whats the number on the ECM case itself say? I noticed my dads plastic holder had a different number than his ECM.

Not much help here, too bad the post is so old. :)

A thread on that ECM

Not going to be a '747 ECM with 4L80E obviously.

Dorain,

I have a couple questions on TunerPro RT if don't mind.

I received my cable and install TunerPro. and Preferences > ALDL/Emulation tab I used the test for valid cable usning settings.

TunerPro detects the cable just fine.

I guess from this point you have to load an ALDL definition file and tell TunerPro to connect. Is this correct?

Now my big fear. Since I couldn't find an AWBP or 16154461 listing on any of the sites does this mean TunerPro will not work without a .ads file?

edit

I just found the DS file format for the 91 5.7/4l80e combo.

A138.ds

Looks like I'll need to learn how to write the ads file for my combonation of parts as I can't seem to find one already done. My computer is pushing on the M wire at the 8192baud as well. There doesn't seem to be to many of these that people have work on.

And:

This ECM is a slave on a masterless ALDL. In other words, there is
no traffic on the ALDL, so when the tester is connected to
the ALDL it must initiate communications with the ECM rather than
waiting for the F0 poll.

Well, did manage to find a 91 5.7 4l80e ads file to look at and it just happens to allow TunerPro to function. I was getting data from ECM now, which is a starting point.

I still need to do a ton of reading this stuff.

Grrrr xdf files!!

Sorry I wasn't online the last few days, but sounds like you got it. :)

Yeah, I have something anyway. :D

I met a guy on thridgen, Keith, that is help me get going. We just happen to have the same set up. Neither of us has a very extended xdf file but there is one that works. The $85 and then an extended&85. I got a stock AWBP bin from him to look at.

I sure wish there was a bin to xdf translator out there. Would make geting all the information in TunerPro pretty easy. But, I'm sure that would take a ton of work.

Thanks for all the information thus far!
