Could someone please verify that this is a 205 t-case?

It's for sale and I'd like to swap it for the weak NP208 in my M1008.

Thanks in advance.

Walter

x3 and its a th400 short adaptor round pattern slip yoke cable driven speedo 204 with flat flange output. good find. just swap out the slip for fixed yoke and add a 203 range box to the front.

Heck ya! nice find, those things are getting plenty rare!

no no no thats one of those POS np267's they are hard to find, and not worth a crap. Just load it in a box, and ship it here, I'll pay shipping for ya. I have ways to get rid of them :).

Thank you all for the quick replies!!!

And tell ya what?
It's even here in Germany!

I'm trying to find one of those babies for nearly 5 years now.

If I understand you correct, it's a simply bolt on to my th400, right? Some driveline length issues?

Walter

It will bolt right up to your TH400,it has the correct shaft stickout.
Gonna need a different crossmember because of the short foot adapter vs the 208 tall adapters that the 1008s used.
Also your rear driveshaft will a couple of inches to short and the front will be a couple to long.

Congrats on the find!

Thx, I really appreciate your help!

I thought about the crossmember and hopefully its for sale too . . .

Bringing my old thread back to life as the swap is close (my 208 failed the 40th time!!!!). Below are the 2 adapters, long one ist the CUCV 208, short i bought with the 205.

Can someone please post a pic of a NP 205 "short food adapter" crossmember? I'm afraid of clearing issues with that short adapter. Or ist the NP205 not hanging down as much as a NP205?
Another question: will this kind of tc case mount work? Unfortunately on ORD's website they sell 2 kinds of mounts and only the older style is pictured. Wondering what the newer style looks like.

if you cant find any over there in germany and have a way to get it there from the us easy i have 2 extra and i will give you one.

but 85-up used this style crossmember.

My 88 with a TH400 and 205 with the tranny mount he shows used the quassi S shaped crossmember, no that one.

Thankyou! Good pic of both parts. Missed the crossmember on ORD's website though.

Thx man! Shipping would be a fortune i think. But if every other attempt fails, who knows . . .
I try to get one made locally (no fabrication skills here ) or try the few us-truck yards/dealers here in Germany.

Do you happen to have a pic of that S shaped one?

Thankyou
Walter

The guy I got my 86 205 from was just using a piece of 1" or 1 1/2 square tube on the bottom of the frame with the holes drilled for the trans mount. If you look at it, it is straight across so fabbing something up should be easy.

:eek1:

that made my brain hurt. i dont even want to know how much money was spent in repairs vs what the cost of the NP205 swap was. Your setup dosnt seem THAT aggressive (aka no 52in boggers, supercharged 572 big block etc. etc.), Ive never heard of an NP208 being that unreliable. Kinda seals the deal on my NP205 upgrade later on :)

Not much - US parts are dirt cheap in europe - :haha:

Don't know what's about my NP208. Of all i read about, it doesn't have that bad reputation if not being heavily abused.

Bought the CUCV M1008 in 1997 and had no issues since 2005 when i discovered a crack at the front cover. Rewelding a 20+ year aluminium cover may not be of a long term. So shortly after, the tcase front part have been replaced. A complete overhaul job was made during the cover change. Next was a very bad shaking when driving above 45mph. It only was obvious when all of the drivetrain was cold. After driving about 15mls all went smooth. This was last holiday (september). Now the shaking went from bad to horrible. Remember it's only when cold (the very last time before the dissasembly the shake was pretty hard, even when allparts are cold/unused).
Sorry for all that OT, I'm in the process of installing my np205 ts 32spl frt op, so let's talk about that sucker now . . . :wink1:
