Identifying the size of my gas tank

Classic Parts of America shows a 25 gallon gas tank as 29 x 28 x 11"
a 31 gallon gas tank as 29 x 28 x 13"

But were do I measure the 11 or 13" from?

The picture is from the bottom of the inside to the top, just below the o-ring.

It should be the depth of it. So you should be correct.

Those are outside tank dimensions.

Huh. You might be right. If that's true, another way to ID them quickly.

but both my 31-gallon tanks have a slight but noticeable angle at the bottom rear

Lower left side in the link which is the rear of the tank. It’s about 6” long.
