My truck seems to idle low....like 4-500 rpm. Sometimes it feels like it is going to stall when I put it in gear....the lights will dim and it's about 300 rpm. I'd like it more like 6-700. Can I adjust it simply?

Get a can of throttle body cleaner and mass air cleaner. That should help alot. Spray the sheit out of them, they prob need it. Mine did that and a friend read to do both of those on the gm site comp.

Would choke and carb cleaner work for that, or specifically TB/MAF cleaner?

aahhhhhh......the days of carbs and point ignition.....:D:D:D

IDK....whip out the laptop or code scanner/tuner ???

Take it into the dealer so they can charge you 400.00
to tell you they programmed the latest upgrade to address
this issue ??

:dunno::dunno::dunno: I have nothing to add.....:haha:

Nope get the right stuff, throttle body cleaner and mass air cleaner from the gunk brand worked good for me. (Not carb and choke). I sprayed my throttlebody and wiped it out with a clean rag, the mass air just spray dont touch with anything its delicate. When i did it i used over half a can of each. The throttle body cleaner was around 5-6.oo and the mass air was 7.oo....well worth it. The cans are two seperate cans they dont make an all in one that i know of.

You will notice the differance pretty well.

Thanks Rob, I'm on it. I hear there is also a few recalls I should check into for this truck. An ABS issue and a couple others. Wonder if one of em could be for this?

Use to work for gm we never cleaned the maf just the throttle body for this issue but it wouldn't hurt the maf as long as you get the stuff just for maf and let it dry befor you reinstall.

Cleaned the MAF sensor; that seemed pretty clean already. I then used the Throttle blade cleaner; that had a bunch of carbon? on it, and took a while to get it clean. I sprayed it, and let is soak a few minutes then would wash it down with more spray and used a toothbrush to scrub the stubborn carbon off. Got the outside of the blade and throttle intake plenum spotless, but I know the inside of the blade still has some carbon on it. The truck idles much better now, especially at cold startup. I will check this tank of fuel for mileage to see if that improves as well. I also cleaned the K&N filter element and re-oiled it.

Thanks for the tips.

I used a FIPK from K&N on my 96 7.4, and wasn't impressed with it at all. Mileage or performance didn't seem to improve over stock, and it was loud as hell, especially when towing.
Has anyone used the kit on a 6.0?

I used an AEM brute force cold air kit, real nice kit and it uses an oil free filter, It has a large cone filter and an alluminum tube with a heat shield . Also to mention it works great.

Another too add i also have edelbrock headers, dynomax 4 inch exhaust and a hypertech programmer. Seems to run excellent.

I just modded my intake box on my dmax, and use a washable kandn. I'm sure you can do something similar on your 6.0

The intake box looks ok, and actually the restrictive part looks like the area after the MAF sensor where that big outgrowth (I think its there for noise reduction) comes off the intake tubing. But that is one concern I have, is that it would be loud, which to me can be really annoying while towing. That was a problem I had with the K&N system on my 7.4

I'm guessing the new ones still use an Idle Air Control Valve. If so, wouldn't hurt to thread it out, check it for buildup, and check the air passages it uses. This is how the computer varies the idle, and if its gunked up....

where is it? I only noticed the MAF sensor.
