Idle adjustment off now….

Edelbrock 1406 -

I cleaned the carb a little today with some carb cleaner while it was on the truck. Sprayed down the carb, linkage, etc.

After doing this my idle adjustment went around 300 rpm higher. I like to keep it around 500 rpm. I tried to turn the screw down and it’s backed out all the way....can't go any lower. I also messed around with another screw on the bottom of the linkage and it didn’t change anything.

Why would the idle change after this ?

When did you start the truck? Right after you cleaned the carb? My first thought was maybe you got some carb cleaner in the intake which would make it run faster at idle and my second thought was maybe the gasket under the carb is leaking and since you cleaned the carb it is now pulling in air around the base? I dunno, thats my best educated guess.

I fixed it.... the linkage on the passenger side needed to be cleaned again. it must have got some junk in it while cleaning.... thus holding it back a little... seems fine now.

You probably accidentally engaged the fast idle.
