I just rebuilt the motor in my blazer. Its a TBI 350 the thing idles at 500 rpms and idles a little rough. After idleing for a few seconds it starts smoking, its obviously burning way to much gas.

Any ideas?

One thing I dont have hooked up is the wire that runs to the smog pump valve because I couldn't figure out where that goes.

Maybe you need to find out where that wire goes first . Whether air gets into the manifolds will change idle characteristics I would believe .

The idle should be 550 rpm in drive.

Ya that's about where mine is sitting but then after a few seconds it starts smoking running really rich....step on the gas a little and it goes away. Something is telling the thing to dump to much fuel at idle.
