my truck is idleing roughin gear at lights ect. purrs in park or neutral. im having a brain fart here. i know i have fixed this before. by the way its a 350, HEI, headers, and a starter that gets too hot.

Check for vacuum leaks. A small one may let it run fine with no load, but suck too much air under load causing it to run rough. I know that worn throttle shafts will cause this, but if it just started doing it then there may a loose vacuum line somewhere.

I agree with the leaks. Double check your vaccum routing. I had the exact same symptoms, rerouted and replaced hoses for about $15, and now it runs like new. Couldn't believe the difference. My vaccum diagram was gone from under the hood, so I printed one off of AllData.
