couple questions, how exactly do i adjust the idle of the car and my distributor keeps poppin up a bit and i think stalls out the engine, its either that or the idling speed. Does anyone know how to adjust this or wat it is that keeps stalling my engine?

thanks

Give a better explenation. What do you mean by your distributor keeps popping up? Do you mean it is advanceing the timeing all by itself or what? Let us know and maybee I can help ya.

like the whole shaft pops up so the gears aren't as precise, i think its affecting the timing, someone told me i need to hook somesort of clamp, but the mainly wats happening is the shaft is popping up like a little less than an inch.

STOP driving your truck until you fix that distributor!!! It sounds like the clamp that holds the distributor in place has come loose. So the distributor is able to climb the gear on the camshaft. This will damage the drive gear on the end of the camshaft. The only way to fix that is to replace the cam.

Look down under the distributor, right where the shaft enters the engine. There's a small, Y-shaped piece of steel that has a single bolt holding it to the intake manifold. The open part of the Y is supposed to fit over the shaft and then you tighten down the bolt so that it clamps the distributor in place.

If your distributor is loose, then thats why your idle is changing. Fix the distibutor first, then worry about idle.
