Sweet.. so you can take off and put on the top by yourself with that? What do you back up your k5 to the rear 2x4 and lift up the rear of the hard top onto it... then lift up the front and slide the front 2x4 under it?

It looks like the two horizontal 2x4s are removable. So you take the 2x4s out, drive underneath the structure, lift one end up with your back and shove a 2x4 underneath, then do the same with the other end.
If you do make one of these I'd either put those 4x4s in the ground a couple of feet or brace the one that is shown a little better. I'd hate to have my hard top come crashing down because of poor engineering. It looks like the one shown is able to twist, but I guess the builder will have to speak up about that. /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

I'm sorry but as the official redneck of CK5 (live in a camper with piles of truck parts lining the outside for insulation) I have to point out that your stand looks too safe to quaify you for redneck status.

Please reference this rack I built last weekend to transport a truck, truck cab and truck bed (plus misc parts inside of truck cab) from Washington state to Wisconsin.

I tried, but after I told him that the landscape timber was bowed due to the weight, he passed out. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

we used 4x4 post and 1x6 for the braces. and some odd ball 4" round poles.
had it high enought to roll the old frame out and the new frame under it.

I wanted to put a diagnal piece across the back but the homeless guy I was stealing the wood from came back from looking in trash cans early.
