SCOOBYDANNN
1/2 ton status
In 1997 I bought my first truck--a 1983 Chevy Stepside Silverado. Fully loaded with AC, PW/PD, cruise control, everything. A beautiful truck.
Soon after the purchase I installed a 3" lift and a set of 33" Mud Kings.
After wheeling for a little while I met up with Marv Springer and got hooked onto rock crawling. "Scooby" then cheanged into a image of its own.
going from a 6" lift and 35" boggers
to a set of 37" MT's 3/4 ton, no bed and camo'ed
to no doors, no bed, and grooved TSL's
and finally to tubed front end and a 400/203/205 setup.
Well, I'm sad to say my first love of wheeling, my first love of crawling, my first truck will be going to the scrap yard on Saturday.
I was planning on doing a 4-link with air-shocks, but after a careful inspection of the frame I decided the frame was not up to the task. I parked her at a friends house for a little while i tried to get back on my feet but the patience of said friend wore a little too thin and I have no where to park her till i get the $$. So, with no where to store my Scooby I have no where to go but the scrap yard. I have learned soooo much driving this truck and she will truly be missed.
If I were to do it again I would have made her a quality show truck and beat to s#%t out of some other truck that meant nothing to me. But what is done is done.
so with that said, please drink a nice cold one in rememberance of the Scooby.
