If you were ordering a 4" lift front spring, would you go ahead and order the 495lb heavy version over the 325lb spring? Eventually i may b52 the front, and if that happens these springs would either go to my 2wd if i 4x it, or my white truck which has beater status (And may eventually get a plow if i find a cheap one). This is just gonna be on a driver/light trail truck for now, so i dont really think i need to worry about flex. And theres not much price difference either. Opinions?

(between the 1847 and 18471 part numbers)

I vote Heavy Duty. I look at it this way: if you don't like the ride of the heavy duty, I remember reading you can always take out a leaf or two and it'll be the same as the EZ Ride's. Better to go overboard and not need it than the other way around.

buy the easy rides and IF it's too soft add a leaf later...or if you get a winch or bumper. cheaper up front cost i think.

Thats how ive been feeling, especially if i plan to put it in the white truck when im done with it. If all else fails i can order some of the ez rides when i do the bronze truck. I was debating between a 6" and 4" lift, and all the 6's have a 465lb rating, whilst the 4's have 325 or 495 so its very polar. I think 35s look best with 4" of lift, while 37s look good with trimmed 6".

I dont want the k5 to become a full crawler (if i get that hungry i have a rusted and busted 75 k5 i can buy from my brother for 500). Actually i almost sold my k5 back to him today. He bought it for 1600, took it apart, bought the 75 green one for the motor, then sold the 86 and both motors to me for 800 because it sat forever with him doing nothing to it. Tree fell on the clip, etc. I fixed all the front core support, found a used color matching good, new grille, and he offered me 400, what a d*@k lol. I know he just got 12k from selling his powerstroke! haha.

shovel, the difference is 25 bucks. Just talking front springs here. Doing a flip on the rear.

Oh, what would be a good U bolt length to buy? I want enough excess that i can use an ez inch if need be. Just gonna be a 10 bolt up front (or maybe a 44, not going d60 yet).

i'm learnin here, but here's my understanding now. a flip rides better and flexes better than 4" springs it seems so i'm going softer up front to somewhat "match" the ride out back. i figure i can add to the packs later if i need to. i can see it both ways though.

as snuffy said, you can take leafs out if it doesn't ride as expected. Then you know you have a matched set, but i guess that doesn't really matter. Either way bro, i think im gonna buy more than i need just in case less isnt enough, Thanks guys.

I would just make my own lift with cobbled together drop down brackets on the front spring mount, and whatever square tubing I can find, pieced together for the front lift blocks. and it will still ride like stock because it retains the gm issued sagging leaf springs.

No, not really.

Unless you have plans for a bigass winch bumper or something, Id just get the easy rides or whatever they call them.

well ive decided on the hd spring. I am also thinking ill need the 14710 kit that has:

Part # Description Qty.
BL401 4” Rear Lifted Blocks 2
5U-6109R 5/8” X 3 1/2” X 9 5/8” Round U-bolts 1
5U-3507R 5/8” X 3” X 7 5/8” Round U-bolts 3
5U-3511R 5/8” X 3” X 11 3/4” Round U-bolts 4
58NW 5/8” High Nuts & Washers 2
GMSBNB1 Front Spring Eye Bolts 1
GMBLNB Front & Rear Brake Line
Extensions & Hardware 1
LUBE Lube Pack 2
14710INST Instruction Sheet 1

At least thats what the online pdf said it has. So i still need a steering arm (They say there 70100 only fits a 44 but i think it should fit a 10 bolt right? but i may be getting a 44 with flat tops soon). I also emailed kert about these parts maybe his will be a little better quality.

I noticed jms thread on shocks so i may follow his route. The 5250s he said were nice on the street, so i may go that route (maybe he will cut me a deal on his used ones if your reading this haha).

Why bother with lift blocks in the rear?

Why bother with lift blocks in the rear?
because even though they are not very desireable on this board, they DO work.

as long as everything is installed correctly, and torqued right

You've seen my Burb on some trails, you've seen it at Moab, ever since i did my lift, it's had 4" blocks out back, i have never had an issue with them and feel i have taken this truck through places even I thought wasn't going to go.

Of course with it being as big as it is, i don't hot rod it, so i really don't worry about the claimed axle-wrap either.

Been working fine for me for the past 6 or so years, :D

stated above that i was going to flip n switch the rear, the kit comes with the blocks. But i talked with kert at kiy4x and i may end up ordering my flip, u bolts, a pair of EZ inches, maybe a heavy duty front bushing, heavy duty shackles and hardware from him. Tuff countrys would work but id rather support a board member. he doesnt sell the springs though so i may order them from summit.
