so how much bigger (taller) of a coil spring can i use without changing anything other than shocks? i want to list my DD tacoma and i have rear lift springs but i just want to slap some new shocks and coil on it. do i need to change anything else?

Not familiar with the toyota setup (and don't even know the year), but i'd say you could add about 1", or 1.5" in spacers to that setup w/o swapping springs. At that point, its not going to be a larger spring needed, its going to be a dropped lower A arm.

but could i put like a 3" longer spring in with everything else stock? except the shocks. or will i need to do more work? its a 99 the way

see this kit it looks like all you need is longer springs and nothing else. becuase if thats all i need to do im going to be happy

buy a kit.

with out doing it right you eat ball joints/ bushings/ and will not get it in to full alignment specs. save your self some money in the end buy the kit.

And buy a quality, well reviewed kit. I'm thing of the nightmares AJM had with his 92 blazer, when he put a rancho 2-3" kit on it, which basically let him max his tbars....rather than a 4-6" proper lift kit.

Basically, you'll get what you pay for. I'd look into the ones with replacement arms, etc....or at least fully understand the design of the other type before you buy it.

x2 what i couldnt have typed better if i tryed.

reserch, reserch, then do more.

what does a kit all cover? they sell these. its a 2wd so i dont have to worry about that

waste of time.

get a kit with more than just coils. or its like fitting 10 lbs of crap in a 5 lb bag of suger. it dosnt look good or smell good. dont try it.

i use to install lots of the gm key kits. but took a lot of them out after thay drove them a bit. thay hated them.

but now thay have made them better with lift brackets for the shocks and thay give you max hight specs to keep a good ride and not jar your teeth out.

whats your need for this ? if just bigger tires i know its gay but 2" or 3" body lift would be much better.

i do some light wheelin with it. i beat on the blazer for hard wheelin. i already have a 3" body lift.... i didnt do it, it was already on when i bought it but i would like more. since its a 2wd with the 3" body kit it looks like a stock 4wd but no bigger.

I take it your truck is not a trd taco? when looking for a lift kit on toyota's 2wd and 2wd trd prerunner tacoma have diffrent suspensions, the trd uses the same suspension as the 4wd, so look out for that when looking for lift kits.

I had a 99 reg cab 4cylinder stick, with a header, intake and a flowmaster. I put a 2inch bodylift, moved up the bumpers, put the gap covers on then bought a spacer kit for the front and an adda leaf for the rear. 33/12.50/15s on the stock wheels, prerunner bar, roll bar , looked good and tires didnt kill it power wise. A friend had the coil over 4inch kit with 33s and it cost more, rode better but it was about the same heigth. Some of the new spacer its bolt on top of the coilover so the coilover isnt preloaded.

yes if all the parts are there, that lift should be fine...

Bingo. Hard to tell what is there though until you go to install it. Look into the website of the mfg, and see if the instructions include a parts list.

It would have to be a LARGE savings for me to buy a used IFS lift.

Yea that looks good, looks like its all there. although how much are the rev spacers and an adda leaf..? It mite even be cheaper than that.

i bought the lift yesterday. im not going to use the blocks in the back. longer shackles should do the job
