Hey guys

I'm new here and I have a question. I have a 1990 K1500 with independent front suspension. I recently learned that ARB doesn't make air lockers for that application. I was wondering if it is possible to install the solid axle from, say, an 89 model in my truck. If so, what would be involved? Thanx!

Its possible. Best way to go suspension wise. Basically for your truck you will need a ford front axle because 88 and up are a drivers side pumpkin (know as driver side drop). Its gonna require some fabricating, some welding, chopping cutting, torching.

Time to read up on it but for a simple answer:

Yes its possible, yes it would be a good choice.

And pre-emptively: A dana 44 will be good up to 35s easily, 37s with care as long as their not wide.

Anything bigger OR for added security go with a dana 60.

couple options for you to search

sky manufacturing

oru

cage

and then just the general solid axle swap will net you alot of results. There are plenty of ways to slice this pie.

What are ya doin in the dodge section????

Watching the coolest domestic build I've ever seen. A truck built to tackle alaska. Dodge 1500 on rockwells with 48's siped and sitting pretty low for a rockwell truck. Got longarm suspension, flatbed, boner bar, lots of good stuff.

I think its titled Kodiak Ram or something like that.
