Okay everyone, the last time my 87 blazer wouldn't start, you all pointed me in the direction of the ignition control module. That was almost 2 years ago and I've been through 3 since then. In the past, every time it failed it was running fine, turned it off and it wouldn't start. This time i was going down the highway at 65mph and with out warning the blaze died. Now the engine cranks but wont fire. Should I take a chance and swap the ICM first?

Are you putting the dielectric grease on the bottom of the ignition module before you install it?

Are you getting fuel? That is exactly what mine did when fuel pump died.

Ignition module can also stop you from getting fuel. If you can hear the pump kick on when you turn the key on, you know thats good.

I am using the grease. I can hear the fuel pump come on. I think Im going to spend the 30 bucks on the ICM so I can at least rule it out.

Get it tested. They can test them at Advanced or Auto Zone. Then if it fails either buy 1 there or go buy one from GM. I've had 2 of the cheapo parts store ones fail in 70k miles. Some places have lifetime warranties on them. Might not be a bad idea to have one on hand as a spare.
