So last night on my way home from library, got in my 1990 K5 Blazer, fired right up went to turn on the headlights and engine almost dies and the entire electrical system almost went dead. Last stop sign before my apartment, I click the A/C on and the engine dies and entire electrical systems goes out and comes back. I restart the engine, everything is fine, and make it home. This morning I check main connections and find the ground terminal on my battery is very loose so i tighten it down. All accessories work, signals, lights, horn, etc. Just for the hell of it I go to start it and it dies immediately after I let the key back to run. I start it again and push accelerator and it revs up and gets to idle speed, sputters, and then idles at a very low 475-500rpm. If you give it any gas it will die. Not sure if something go smoked last night with that bad ground or if my ignition control module just went out or something else? Help!

Usually the ignition control module stops working when it gets hot...let it cool down and then it runs fine. Your problem sounds like a fuel problem to me. Maybe the fuel pump is starting to go. What is the fuel presure?

Well, I just replaced the pump with AC Delco one last weekend, so I hope not. I have not checked the pressure. Anyway, I just went outside and tried to start it again and I gave it some gas, started, and held it at 1500 rpm for like 5 seconds and it dropped back down and started to idle like normal. I put it in drive and drove around. Everything seems fine now it starts and drives normal with everything working? What gives????

sounds to me like your alternator or your battery is letting go,ad this happen to me on my 90 blazer. the battery let go,I ad just put a new alternator the week before,I was on a 2 hour road trip so I did not notice right away that the volt meter ad gone down so the truck ran on the alternator for a wild, but a little to long and I fried my new alternator.I ended up replacing 2 alternators and a battery.

Yeah I have no clue. I put a new Optima Red top in last October and alternator was replaced in 2005 has about 15,000k on it, but I wouldn't rule either out. Was out driving in it again tonight. All systems working, everything charging. Wonder what would cause EGR to do that?
