I have a 1990 K5 Blazer 4x4 with a taste for blowing ignition control modules from O'Reilly to Accel, i've replaced the distributor, coil, complete tune-up,(8.8mm) everything aftermarket accel performance. i've got no idea what else beside complete wiring harnesses to fix this issue?! any suggestions beside little/too much grease or making sure ground is clean?! ive heard possibly too hot due to long tube headers, but didn't know how to ratify that situation either?! :dunno: ANY HELP IS BEYOND APPRECIATED!!!!!!

Heat kills electronics more than anything else. Changing parts won't do you anything if you're melting the modules, which I betcha is the case.

Use heatsink thermal compound, like they use for computers, and sure as hell don't use dielectric grease. The idea is to transfer heat from the module to the body of the dizzy, so you want to goop the metal part of the module (which is the "chip") and make sure it has a solid way for heat to travel to the metal part of the distributor.

Find you a 16-year old who builds computers and knows about CPU heatsinks and he'll fix y'all up.

Also, check all the wiring into the ign module at hte back of hte block. LOTS of mine had cracked insulation, and could easily gap wire to wire.

Bought some new ign module / coil plugs from Rock auto, eliminated as much of the old wiring as i could, used watertight heat shrink but connectors, and put it all back together.

Been going strong for a while now!
