Thought so, Just gave the details as I wanted to make sure. Question 4X4High, what moves or adjusts the timing to advance on these dists. is it a electric motor or somehow is it done through the ECM? My concern here is that I do not think that I am getting any advance out of my system. Loss of power and black smoke when I was climing the hills of CA.

Timing is controlled through the ECM. The distributors on all the GM fuel injected vehicles do not have a vacuum advance or mechanical advance. It's easy enough to tell if you're getting advance. Throw a timing light on the truck without disconnecting the EST wire and the timing should be somewhere around 20-25* advanced. Once you pull the EST wire you should be at zero (TDC).
Ok i was reading some threads from the past and get that the ecm changes the timing but I wonder how it does it. The rotor is not advancing so I just don't see how it advances.
