Ignition lock cylinder sticking

Hey!

I had the wobbling steering column and finally got that fixed.
I have had it apart 3 different times and now that that problem is taken care of.....

When I start the truck, the ignition cylinder sticks on. The key won't turn back to the off position without wiggling the wheel/tilt and some times hitting the column at the cylinder location. 1 in 10 starts it works. The other 9 it won't turn back from the on position.

Also, most of the time, once it is back to it's lock position it doesn't stay locked. In other words you can turn the ignition cylinder with your hand and start the truck without the key.

Neither of those conditions is 100 % of the time and they don't seem to be consistently happening at the same time.

This leads me to think something is too tight or too loose or something like that. If something was missing or broken I would think it would be a consistent thing.

Anyone have any thoughts? Have you experienced this before? I'm really not too comfortable leaving it parked some place when you don't need a key to start it. (The door locks are currently broken/unhooked. I haven't had a chance to get to those yet.)

Thanks,
Al

Hey!

Hasn't anyone experienced this??

Anyone with any ideas??

I can't believe it just needs a new lock cylinder...it worked fine before I started messing with trying to fix the tilt wobble.

Any help????

Thanks,
Al

Well There's your problem!;)

Sorry but I think you'll have to take it apart again. Might have broke something or got something put back in wrong. I would guess the lock is being bound up.

Take pics if you can.
