ignition module question

hey guys. recently my k5 died while my girl was driving it. no warning or anything. so my friends best guess to start is the ignition module. i went to go get one, and they have two kinds for an 86 305? i dotn have the vehicle here, and im supposed to pick it up on the way to his house. any one have a clue how you could tell?

Look at the 8th digit in on the vin#. That will tell the parts guys what they need to know. To be on the safe side, I'd write down the whole vin# and take it in with you.
