Where is it located on an 83 K5? A pic or diagram would be helpful.

It is inside the distributor . It is under the rotor , bolted on with a couple 1/4 inch machine screws course thread . It is easily removed and replaced with hand tools .

It is almost like any other HEI distributor , except if original it has an extra plug ( weatherpack connector ) for the spark computer under the dash .

I replaced mine with a 70's HEI distributor .

So if the distributor was replaced then the ignition module was also replaced??

Yes. Replaced however, does not mean good.

Aftermarket ignition stuff is bad about not working, straight out of the box.
